This fascinating conversation with Nadim Nassar invites us to rethink how we read the Gospels through his book The Middle Eastern Jesus: The Christ of the Gospel and the Culture of God. Every culture, he suggests, shapes its image of God and interprets Scripture through its own assumptions, often missing the richness of the text. By stepping into the cultural world that shaped Jesus, Nadim opens up fresh ways of hearing familiar words.
Drawing on his deep knowledge of Middle Eastern language, culture, and Scripture, Nadim explores key parables and central Christian themes such as faith, love, discipleship, sacrifice, and witness. He also reflects on how the peace revealed in Christ speaks into contexts marked by violence, upheaval, and profound human suffering, offering a vision of reconciliation, healing, and restorative justice for both individuals and communities.
Ideal for Christians interested in theology and the cultural world of the Bible, this conversation will be hosted by Andy Kind and will conclude with an audience Q&A, followed by a book signing.
This session will be held in the main Church building. Bookings are subject to our terms and conditions.
