Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin was educated at Montego Bay High School for Girls. She moved to the UK in 1982 to train with the Church Army and was commissioned as an evangelist. She was ordained as a deacon in 1991 and as a priest in 1994. She served in various parishes, including St Matthew’s Church in Wolverhampton and St Andrew’s Church in West Bromwich.

In 2007, she was appointed Chaplain to Her Majesty the Queen, and in 2010, she became the first woman to serve as Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons. In 2019, she was consecrated as the Bishop of Dover, becoming the first black woman to hold such a position in the Church of England.

Bishop Rose is married to Kenneth Wilkin, a prison chaplain, and they have three adult children.
